Pricing questions
The fine print, in plain English
Is there a contract or setup fee?
No setup fees, and bookkeeping plans are month-to-month. If you leave, your books and
your software logins stay yours, and we'll hand everything over tidily.
What if my expenses fluctuate month to month?
We look at your average over the last three months, not your busiest one. If you grow
into a bigger plan, we'll tell you a month ahead. Your price never changes retroactively.
Who is Harbor Books not a fit for?
We're honest about this: publicly traded companies and complex multi-entity international
structures need a different kind of firm. If that's you, we'll say so on the first call
and point you somewhere good. (Need audited or reviewed statements? We manage those
through a licensed CPA firm in our network; the FAQ explains how.)
Are your fees really tax deductible?
For businesses, yes: bookkeeping, accounting, and business tax preparation fees are
ordinary business expenses. For personal returns it depends on your situation, and we'll
tell you straight either way.
Can you just do my taxes without bookkeeping?
Yes. Personal returns never require a bookkeeping plan, and we take standalone business
returns when the books are in reasonable shape. If they're not,
catch-up bookkeeping gets them there first. It usually pays
for itself in deductions we find along the way.
Not sure which plan fits?
Book a free consult and we'll recommend one in 30 minutes, including the honest option of “you don't need us yet.”
